red, white and blue

It's Election Day!! As promised I will not be telling you who to vote for :) but, do vote! I would like to honor this election day with some fabulous red, white and blue rooms. Never my go to color scheme but, these rooms make it work!

This may be my all time favorite room, I'm posting it again.

It's not for the design timid but this color scheme can be amazing. For me, I will probably stick to my love affair with coral, white and navy. But, I'm still pretty patriotic.

One thing I look forward to at the end of every year is when the new Cavellini calendars come out. 2013 is not going to disappoint. I spotted this one at Anthropologie last night.

husband thoughts

Do you have a design opinionated significant other? My husband used to be a lot more vocal but, now he trusts me to do pretty much do what I want as long as it sticks to the budget. But every once in a while he has a comment or strong opposition to something I'm doing. 

Last night I was sitting with the iPad in bed perusing Ruthie Summers images {like you've never done it}and he comes to bed and leans on my shoulder. This image was up.

And he says "That looks like a bad haircut with bangs." Nice. But now that's what I will think whenever I see this picture. It's funny what he thinks up when he does have an opinion.

Hope you have a safe and happy Halloween. We shockingly have not had a party until tonight so the kids will only get to wear their costumes once. We better make it good!

ikea textiles

I think Ikea has really upped it's game lately. It's always been good of course, but now that I don't live by one I find myself wanting stuff more and more. I've especially been loving some of the new textiles. Here are some of my faves.

where did you go

Remember me? I used to blog here :)

Truth be told my family has needed me a little more than usual. There has been lots of doctor tests, juvenile hypothyroidism, one little surgery, a job promotion for my hubs that included lots of extra hours, a school bully and a bunch of new adventures over the last little while. While I was at it I kicked my house into major gear. Seriously, it's sparkling right now. With amazingly clean closets to boot! Speaking of, the toy closet really has rocked my world, best decision ever!

Now that life seems to be a bit more manageable, the stress eating has stopped. And I feel like I can have fun with design again.It was always there in the back of my head. And I did get some magazine fun at the hospital and doctors office too. The most exciting thing is my fancy new business cards, that I am soooo excited about.

All in all, I feel like I'm me again. And my family has been well attended to. Thanks for being patient with me. Back to delightful designing tomorrow!

my favorite one

Remember my giant magazine? Still one of the best and worst things I ever did. One magazine I could not bring myself to rip up was the April 2008 issue of Domino.

I'm convinced it's the best issue of Domino (hello that's saying a lot!) and it is easily my all time fave out of all my mags. Just read through it again yesterday. If you are still holding on to this pretty one I think you should open it up too!

mmb: warm, inviting living room

Today's Monday Moodboard is a bit more traditional. I really enjoyed embracing the fall colors on this one. Brown, mustard, orange and coral. An oldie but a goodie as far as color combos go. It probably helped that the leaves are changing and it is gorgeous fall around here.

This family has the most beautiful home. It's an older home that they have been restoring themselves. Maybe I can someday snag some shots of it. Seriously one of my favorite homes I've ever been in. Now that they are closer to completing their renovations they are on to decorating.

i love the outdoors

Lately we've been trying to soak up as much of the outdoors as possible before it gets too cold here. I LOVE fall in Boise. It's the most gorgeous time of year. 

My little guy has been wearing his pirate hat everywhere possible lately :)

I would have had more pictures of a pretty picnic but as soon as we sat down we were attached by a swarm of bees, we picnicked in the van instead. Next stop: pumpkin patch!

MMB: frugal and fabulous craft room

They're baaaaaack! Monday Mood Board! Goodness it's been a long time! And it feels good to back in the swing of things. It only took me until October to be in school mode :)

Today's mood board is for an office slash craft room slash playroom. And it is especially fun because it is using things the family already has and adding fabric and a few accessories to pull it all together. The furniture is already in the room thanks to bringing two ikea expedits from other rooms and a free metal side of the road score. Yes!

This client means business so I wouldn't be surprised if we saw the after a few days after the fabric comes :)

I would really love to do this to my pantry this weekend.

Pencil holders as spice racks? I think so! I'm going to head to the dollar store and see what I can find. I would really love for my spices to have a better home.
